The latest figures show there are up to 300,000 children being raised by their grandparents, other family members or friends. We are in daily contact with grandparents who are kinship carers. They tell us how lonely and exhausting it can be. However, we also hear from children about how much they love their grandparents – they know you are giving them a safe and loving home. Losing contact with grandchildren causes great heartbreak for grandparents. If you have little or no contact with your grandchildren, you are not alone – up to 1 million grandparents are in the same position. We have listened to the grandparents who contact us daily, and our information and advice has been developed to give the tools grandparents need to tackle the complex issue of seeking contact. GRANDPARENTING
There are 14 million grandparents in the UK - 1.5 million are aged under 50, 7 million are under 65. Being a grandparent is something that most of us are so proud and privileged of being - for many it is a time of having a child in the family without the responsibility, but with all the pleasure that we may have missed with our own children. Here we are celebrating all grandparents by sharing stories, giving practical advice on things like childcare plus information to help you help your grandchildren and much, much more. More

Grandparents’ Association Professional Membership is open to lawyers and those working in social care. Professionals benefit from the latest news and policy development on all issues concerning grandparenting as well as the opportunity to share good practice through training and development work.
