Whilst the Grandparents' Association has so much to offer we are often asked what regional help is available and what events, information and support there is. With this in mind we have set up some regional pages which will give you an insight into whats happening in your region and the groups that are run, local services which are running or under development, information available or help that is needed. If you would like some advice or help please feel free to contact us on 0845 4349585 What we do: Currently our main activities are networking, volunteer recruitment, setting up support groups, training, and raising awareness of the role of grandparents and the Grandparents' Association across London. We regularly meet with a wide cross section of professionals and organisations with an interest in grandparenting issues. These include Social Services, Supported and Social Housing providers, Education services, community centres, intergenerational projects, parenting groups, family courts and ward councillors. Through the longstanding campaigning and networking of the Grandparents' Associations CEO Lynn Chesterman we have wide contacts and influence across both voluntary sector organisations and central government. There are regular meetings with government ministers and parliamentary groups to inform and advise on policy. Current partnerships across voluntary and statutory agencies include: * Elders Voice - an intergenerational project based in Brent * Families Apart - a charity working on behalf of prisoners families * Camden Family Learning Forum - made up of voluntary and statutory organisations working to improve educational outcomes for children. * Museum of Childhood - on a grandparent and grandchild learning project. * We are currently setting up support groups as part of a project we are working on to support grandparents who families have been involved in crime, as perpetrators or victims |
