Curbing street violence - a new initiative for grandparents and families - Aiming to reducing street violence by 20% in the next 4 years

Witness confident has launched a new interactive Street Violence Map – the first of its kind in the world.
Initially covering Hackney and Islington the Map is a key tool in the community campaign to curb street violence in the boroughs by 20% by 2015.

The Map:
•    makes it easy for victims, witnesses and the police to log incidents of street violence and to publish witness appeals;
•    provides a simple and secure way for victims and witnesses to contact the right police officers and vice-versa;
•    allows local people to see if there are any trouble-spots, how well the police respond, and to make the community safer and feel safer.

This pilot of the Street Violence Map is operated and funded by the independent local charity and legal advice centre, Witness Confident.  The Map was designed and developed by local people after consultation with the police, politicians and regulators.  Please help make it a success and tell people about it.
The Map is being promoted by distributing ace playing cards. If you would like a pack of high quality cards to distribute to members, friends or neighbours, please email dom.wiltshire@witnessconfident.org

So what is SPARKLE? Well it's a campaign where members of the public can sign up to pledge to be good citizens if they see incidents of street violence.  Just visit the Witness Confident homepage at www.witnessconfident.org and sign up using their very short form.
